Matthew Hogan

Matthew Hogan is a bassoonist and organist based in Chicago, Illinois. He serves as second bassoon with both the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, and is a performing member of the Chicago Philharmonic. Hogan has worked with a wide range of arts organizations including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Opera Theater and Fulcrum Point New Music Project, among others.
An active educator, Hogan is on the faculties of Northeastern Illinois University and VanderCook College of Music. He received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in bassoon performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he served as Associate Instructor of the bassoon studio. His primary bassoon teachers include David McGill, Kim Walker, and Arthur Weisberg.
In addition to his work as a bassoonist, Hogan is Organist and Music Director at First Congregational Church of Evanston, Illinois. He has previously held similar posts at churches in Elmhurst, Chicago and Indianapolis.
