Ryan Hobbs

Ryan Hobbs is Professor of Trumpet at Illinois Wesleyan University and a highly sought-after freelance performer and educator based in the Chicago area, where he maintains a large private studio.

He is the former Principal Trumpet of the Heartland Festival Orchestra and serves as trumpet and founder of the Northside Brass Quintet.

As a performer, Hobbs has appeared with leading ensembles including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre (NYC), Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Chicago Opera Theater, and Chicago Sinfonietta. He has also performed extensively with Broadway in Chicago productions and maintains an active career in remote recording, contributing to numerous movie trailers and commercial projects.
