Birch Creek Music Performance Center Announces 2025 Adult Music Retreats in August

EGG HARBOR, Wis. (May 30, 2025) – Birch Creek Music Performance Center is pleased to announce its 2025 Adult Music Retreats, offering three immersive programs designed for adult musicians seeking to enhance their skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. Set against the backdrop of Door County's scenic beauty, these retreats provide a unique opportunity for musical growth and community engagement.

The Wind Ensemble Retreat, taking place from August 13 – 16, invites adult musicians of intermediate to advanced levels to refine their music reading and performance skills. Participants will engage in daily rehearsals, sectionals, and masterclasses, culminating in a public performance. The retreat is co-directed by educators Jim Stombres, Steve Sveum, and Brayer Teague - all renowned for their contributions to music education and performance. The program is in its eighth year.

The Chamber Music Retreat, now in its sixth year, is designed for strings, woodwinds, and piano players. The program runs August 18 – 21 and offers participants the chance to collaborate in small ensembles under the guidance of professional coaches. Led by Ricardo Castañeda, Principal Oboist with The Chicago Sinfonietta, the program emphasizes chamber repertoire and ensemble techniques, concluding with a public concert showcasing the ensembles' work.

The Piano Retreat, offered August 22 – 25, caters to piano enthusiasts, teachers, and semi-professionals aiming to deepen their artistry. Participants will benefit from masterclasses, lectures, and performance opportunities in a non-competitive setting. The retreat features instruction from renowned pianists Susan Tang, Jodie DeSalvo, and Soo Young Lee, each bringing a wealth of experience and pedagogical insight.

Each retreat includes instruction, continental breakfast, and lunch. Onsite dormitory housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in public concerts at the conclusion of their respective programs, celebrating their progress and sharing their music with the community.

"Our Adult Music Retreats are a joyful reminder that the love of music lasts a lifetime," said Jenna Ferdon, Executive Director of Birch Creek. "Whether you’re reconnecting with your instrument or continuing a lifelong musical journey, our retreats offer a welcoming space to grow, collaborate, and perform."
