Shannon Finney
Flute/Piccolo | Kansas City, MO
Shannon Finney happily celebrated her 20th season with Birch Creek in 2024. Since 1994, she has served as Associate Principal Flutist of the Kansas City Symphony. In Kansas City, she was also an Artistic Advisor, Board Member, and flutist with the chamber ensemble, Summerfest. A prizewinner of the inaugural National Flute Association Piccolo Artist Competition and a Tanglewood fellow, Finney has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, and Chicago Sinfonietta. She studied with Walfrid Kujala, Mary Stolper, and Karla Flygare, and holds degrees in flute performance from Northwestern University. When she’s not performing, Finney enjoys cooking, baking, and reading. An adventurer at heart, she is always seeking new ways to combine her love of travel with time in nature.
