About Birch Creek |
Birch Creek Music Performance Center is a summer music school (academy) in Door County, Wisconsin, for advanced young musicians. With a performance emphasis, students are taught by nationally-known performance artists and educators during the day, and perform alongside them in concerts at night. Four sessions focus on symphony, percussion & steelpan, and big band jazz (2 sessions).
THE BIRCH CREEK DIFFERENCE
From June 23 to August 16, 2008, Birch Creek students and faculty are in residence for four two-week sessions on the historic Birch Creek campus three miles east of Egg Harbor (Door County), Wisconsin. Over the course of the summer, 200 students and 100 faculty members study by day, and at night present 32 concerts in the 100-year-old, 500-seat renovated Dutton Concert Barn. In addition, Birch Creek faculty and students perform a full range of public outreach concerts and other public events scheduled in and around the Door County peninsula. A complete schedule of these concerts and special events will be available on this Web site in the spring.
