Board of Trustees
Birch Creek is governed by a 17 member board selected to serve three-year terms. Trustees are Door County residents identified for their accomplishments in the arts, humanities, business, education or public service. The board includes members from urban and rural areas across Door County and from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Board members set policy for Birch Creek and work with the executive director to approve budgets annually.

Mona Christensen, Executive DirectorMona Christensen, Executive Director at Birch Creek Music Performance Center, comes to us after 27 years of service at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay where she served as the Director of Camps and Conferences, Technology Supervisor and Advisor for the University's Learning in Retirement Program. Her music-related programming included overseeing the UWGB Summer Music Camps that served thousands of youths over the years and a private lesson studio that she maintained for over 20 years. Mona is a flautist who performs regularly at her church in Sister Bay, and she plays seasonally in Green Bay's Sounds of Silver Community Flute Choir.
Ann Johnson, Finance and Business SpecialistA member of the Birch Creek team since 2001, Ann's experience ranges from teaching at the post-secondary level to private sector and non-profit treasury management. Ann holds degrees in linguistics and business management from Loyola University, Chicago, and currently serves on the Treasury Management Team funding the worldwide mission outreach of the Moravian Church in North America.
Bob Lindahl, Director of Operations and FacilitiesBob retired to Gills Rock, Door County in 2008 after more than 30 years as Middle School Principal and Director of Facilities in St. Charles, IL. Bob interrupted his time in St. Charles mid-career to become Administrator of a denominational conference center in New Hampshire. In recent years, he has been a member of the Peninsula Music Festival Choir, served as President of his church, and volunteered in various capacities, including facilitating a rhythm band in the dementia unit at Scandia Village Retirement Center, Sister Bay. Bob began his interim role this February.
Michelle Naese, Administrative Support and Registration SpecialistMichelle started with Birch Creek this year as an Administrative and Office Support Assistant. She holds an Associate’s Degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College - Green Bay. Michelle has 10 years experience as a law office clerk, most recently with Holbus Law Office in Green Bay. She also enjoys music, and has been playing the trumpet since 5th grade.
Kate Rericha, Grants and Development Manager
A leading grants administrator and grant writer for nonprofit organizations in the arts, health and human service, and public education, Kate Rericha is an arts educator with over forty years of experience in a variety of environments including PK-12 public and
private education, technical college, and nursing home program administration. Kate holds a Bachelor of Art Education degree from UW-Oshkosh with a minor in English. As Secretary of the Board of the Egg Harbor Business Association and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Arts Wisconsin (Madison), Kate serves her local community through board leadership and her state community through arts advocacy and program evaluation. She has been with Birch Creek since 2005.
John Schoneman, Marketing and Media Specialist
John joined Birch Creek as an interim Marketing Associate in 2015. A recent graduate in Arts Management from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, John was heavily involved in music promotion and production at his school. He served as the Alternative Sounds Coordinator with Centertainment Productions, a student run organization, and ran many successful events on his campus. John also held a promotions internship with the UWSP Department of Music, and most recently he completed a full time internship in Minneapolis with the radio promotions company, Tinderbox Music.
